remember when i made this new years goal?

i decided to take little video clips here and there of my life, almost every single day.

so, here is a little bit of what happened in january (obviously i'm not able to capture every great thing).

i'm going to post a video at the end of each month for the entire year and hopefully i'll keep it up for years to come as well. it's gonna be fun (and hard to fit everything in to one video)! i'm really excited about this lil project of mine. enjoy!!

after everyone had left sunday dinner at my parent's house last night i caught my dad playing the keyboard (his favorite thing to do)

then he let me join him! i haven't read music/played the piano in the longest time. so i'm kinda the WORST, which makes it pretty funny. my dad is a sport for putting up with my millions of mistakes. we played tunes with the likes of Bob Dylan and The Beatles. it was really fun.

i spent new years eve with lots of close friends and it was just the best. we baked pizzas, ate watermelon sour patch gummies, watched dick clark's new years eve special, dressed up, danced at a couple parties, drank martinelli's, and danced more.

i have alot of resolutions/goals and one of them is to take more videos of my life. sooo, watch out cuz there will be more videos on this blog now (i want to learn how to edit well....we'll see)

last night i had my nieces and nephew up to my house in SLC and here's what we did:

*ate pizza

*walked around temple square to see the christmas lights

*went to the grand america hotel to help maurice the penguin find the christmas star. we looked in 17 frames and found the star shining at the top of the tree in the end. the kids really liked it AND they got a star cookie at the end to reward their efforts.

*then we opening the "christmas surprise balls" i made for them that were waiting under the tree when we got home. those were a HIT. i posted a video below so you can see. it's pretty awesome. i got the idea from the metcalf's. i love it!

it was a great night and i loved seeing the kids get to excited for every thing we were doing. i can't believe i took 6 kids around crazy busy places. it was definitely stressful (i was NOT going to lose anyone!) but it was worth it. i love the beebees in my life.

they were obsessed with this fountain, of all the things!!

that house was made of ALL sugar. the floors were rice krispie treats. awesomeeeeee.

i went snowboarding for the first time this season yesterday. it was delightful. i made some new friends and caught up with santa.....he even "ho ho ho" 'd. it was magical.

it felt so great to be on the meow-eh (mountain). listening to my favorite tunes and swerving through those trees. mmmmmmmmm.

the picture below is really funny to me. i follow Jeremy Jones on Instagram (a photo app) and he posted that he was at Brighton. But at least i TRIED to snowboard with one of my favorite boarders. i never heard back from. hahaha. naturally. but how great would that have been???? someday....

i warmed up with this awesome cup of hot cocoa. that's cinnamon sprinkled on top. do that EVERY TIME.

Courtneyand I stayed with my Spanish friend Amparo. we were so lucky to be able to stay with her and have her as our tourguide to tell us all the cool things about Spain and show us all the bestthings! motorcycle trip with my dad

My dad has been riding motorcycles since he was in his teens. I was lucky enough to get to go on a trip with him last weekend! His motorcycle is like a car without a top. The seats are so cushhh and our helmets have speakers in them so we can listen to music and mics so we can talk to each other. So cool! This was my second trip with him (he took me on another one when I was 14).

The weather was perfect! We started out heading southeast through Spanish Fork canyon going through Ephraim (my old stomping grounds for college!! So many memories flooded back riding through there) and ended up in Richfield for the night. Then we rode down to Bryce Canyon and headed back up going through a million small towns (how do people LIVE out there???) and arrived at Fish Lake. My dad would go there a lot growing up with his dad and fish so it was fun to see one of his favorite places as a lil guy.

Here are my bulleted highlights of the trip:

· Listening to my dad’s ipod which consisted of: the Beatles, Beach Boys, Paul McCartney, etc and watching him rock out while driving.

· Eating the best Mexican food at Pepperbelly’s in Richfield AND getting free fried ice cream!! Love that stuff.

· Watching the BYU vs. Utah game at the hotel and passing out at 9:30 p.m. ??? earliest bed time! I fell asleep before the old man even! I guess sitting on the bike and taking in the scenery really wears you out!

· Sitting and looking at the view in Bryce Canyon and just chatting. Something my dad said that I loved was “Do you think when God was creating the earth, he accidently made this and was like ‘oh, well that looks cool!’ and then just left it?”·

Wearing the most leather ever

· Eating at Mom’s Café in Salina – best soup and scones!

· Dad has to have his peach rings on every trip.

Irene and I (and her roommates and their sisters) "ran" the Dirty Dash in Soldier Hollow on Saturday morning. It's a 10K course full of obstacle courses like crawling through muddy tunnels, running up a muddy hill, climbing a rope wall, hurdling over haystacks, walking/balancing across a watery/muddy pit, slushing through a swamp, and flying down a huge slip and slide. I highly recommend it.

*my last day and we didn't have much time before my flight. we rode bikes around the city and i got another gourmet fruit smoothie bowl. delish!

*i LOVED hawaii! how could i not though? the only thing i wish i could have done was surfing. sooooo that means i'll just have to go back and explore another island!

*shopped at the swap meet

*kayaked to an island. a sea turtle swam up right next to me and popped his head up!! it was the coolest. i got pictures of that too. i'll post them when i get the pics.

*brothers and sisters, aloooooha. went to church.

*lezlie's parents made us a steak and salmon fancy dinner. (i'm telling you, they are the BEST)

* running on the beach - it's so much easier to run in hawaii! i ran double the amount i normally would in utah

* cantelope, blueberries, watermelon for breakfast

*swimming and rolaxing at the pool

*hiked maunawilli falls - it had rained the day before so it was the muddiest hike i've ever done in my whole life. like, taking my shoes off cuz they would get stuck in the mud and slipping a million times.

*jumped off the maunawilli waterfall

*best turkey burger at teddy's

*jacuzzi

*night swimming (skinny dipped!) in the ocean

*the stars are amazing

*drove lezlie's dad's truck to the north shore. i want to live in hawaii and drive that truck. what a dream!

*drove by the dole pineapple plantation - SMELLS SO GOOOOOD

*jumped off the cliffs at waimea

*it would rain and then stop and then pour rain and then stop within a few minutes all the time that day.

*snorkeling in shark's cove - really cool and really freaky at the same time. i was surrounded by hundreds of fish at one time! trapped! but cool to see. i took an underwater camera with me but i'll have to post those pictures later (they're getting developed)

*ate lunch on sunset beach

*dessert at ted's bakery - pineapple/macadamia cheesecake

*walked around the hawaii temple grounds

*shopping, dinner and a movie: stupid, crazy love.

* hike at 5:45 a.m. to see the sunrise. it was amazing!

* ate strawberry waffles w/macadamia nut sauce at the famous Boot's and Kimo's

*beach time - boogie boarding, monopoly card game

*lezlie's parents - john and kay, took us out for pizza and sno-cones. we got to ride in the back of the truck (which is totally legal there) and see the pretty sites hawaii has to offer.

coolest and best jacuzzi. there are little rocks on the bottom that heat up and you can put your feet in. heavenly.

grape, coconut, melon sno cone. i couldn't get over how good the sno cones are!!

*lunch at the largest open air mall in the world

* ate my first hawaiian pineapple - holy smokes, most delicious EVER

*went swimming in the ocean, pool, jacuzzi

*tried coconut (haupia) chocolate pie - WHOA. soo good.

*walked along the beach and watched the sunset while i listened to bon iver (truly amazing). i couldn't stop smiling.

*we stayed with lezlie at her parent's house right on the beach in Kailua, Oahu. what a DREAM.

my nephew jonah made this jem for me. it's a volcano - because i just went to hawaii. haha. he told me i could "wear it on a necklace or sumthin like that". and i'm pretty sure i will! look, it even has ashes falling from the sky! (this is made from those plastic pieces that you melt together/thingie. i used to make stuff like this ALL THE TIME when i was little. awesome)

went to the Dntel show tonight. i've loved this guy for a long time so it was cool to get to see him. he is the other half of the Postal Service - so you can imagine the cool electronic beats he produces. this is one of my favorite songs ever. ever.

i had such a great birthday (it is june 29th) this year. i feel so loved.

started out the week at my parents for a sunday bday dinner: forsey pastrami burgers, fruit, corn on the cob, baked beans -- the works for a summer dinner.

i asked for a softball mitt - it's been getting some great use.

then on my real birthday salina took me to my favorite place for lunch. cafe rio. mmmmm. my work brought in cookies and eclairs and sang to me. that was funny.

then i had a softball party!! had to break in my new mitt right? there were popsicles, capri suns, orange slices, chips, cookies, music, and tons of friends. it was seriously so great.

then we went to my house for desserts!

melissa made that framed kitties picture. haha. i died when i opened that present. so funny!

then kate, carrie, irene and i went to the Corner Bakery the next night for a post bday dinner - delicious!! thanks for dinner carrie.

and THEN (i know, more??) my old department at work (the electronics team) threw me a potluck bday lunch: grilled hot dogs, seven layer dip, pasta salad, root beer floats, cookies, etc.

i have the best friends and family. FOR REAL.

my lovely grandma pearl passed away today. it's very sad for my family but we're glad that she gets to be with my grandpa again and now she's resting easy. here are some of the many things i loved about Pearl:

*she always wanted to know what was going on in my life and how i'm doing

*sleeping over at her house with my cousin candice was one of my favorite things growing up -- she made the best french toast and played all kinds of games with us. I would sleep in my dad's bed and candice would sleep in her dad's bed that they had growing up. so fun!

*playing dress up with all her fancy dresses and purses she had

*she made the best pickles i've ever had in my whole life

*her sense of humor was so great

*every 24th of July she would host a BBQ at her house after the Spanish Fork parade - one of the best summer days every year!

*our birthdays are close to each other so we always shared a family birthday party - i really loved that

*she liked to do crafts - like these cute lil snowmen she made me

*i could always count on her making me a an ice cold drink after a long day of bike riding around Spanish Fork as a lil tike. AND her house was conveniently across the street from a candy store...bonus

*i have always LOVED her name -- in fact, when people ask me what my middle name is, i lie and tell them it's pearl. been doing that since i was 13, haha. i don't actually have a middle name.

I could go on and on about why i loved my grandma pearl. I plan on naming one of my little girls (if it's in the cards for me) after her. what a great lady.

*rode a vespa around the city and stopped at dynamo donuts where we tried: maple bacon, strawberry earl grey, coconut, passion fruit milk chocolate, ham-cheese-and strawberry filing donuts (that last one sounds so sick but it wasn't too bad actually!)

*attended church

*walked around golden gate park (it's soooooo huge) and daren caught a tuhdle (turtle)

*bought "dave" and "bruce" - really great succulents - for casey and daren

*saw the painted ladies

*saw the real full house house - totally not what i remembered from the intro in my head

*dinner at tacolicious - best al pastor tacos

*rode a bike across the golden gate bridge and in to sausilito (a ritzy italian-ish city- beautiful!!). this was my favorite thing we did the entire trip. the smells, the scenery, the everything.

*ferry ride back to the city - saw a buhmillion kite surfers, so tight!

*tartine bakery - everything i tried was amazing: raspberry bread pudding, coconut cream tart, open faced turkey, asparagus, and cheese sandwich

*bi-rite creamery - cinnamon ice cream with chunks of snickerdoodle coogies and a scoop of coogies and cream (my personal fave)

*found some treasures at cool shops on valencia street

*fancy dinner at foreign cinema restaurant (they play movies on the wall while you dine)

*BARELY didn't get peed on by a homeless guy hiding in a doorway - phew!! i would have puked.
